The Cafe works hard to ensure that it's easy to eat well. Our philosophy is that there are no "good" foods or "bad" foods. Everything is fine if eaten in moderation. It also helps if you exercise regularly, drink enough liquids, get adequate sleep, and find ways to deal with the stresses of young adulthood and college life.
At the cafe you can find fresh vegetable on the menu everyday. We shop at the local farmer's market on a weekly basis to choose the freshest and some organic produce and products to be used in our menus. Several times a week, a customer is served fresh fruit, brown rice and salad as side dish. We have reduced the salt in our food preparation, use low-sodium soy sauce, provide natural brown sugar, honey, whole wheat bagels and tortillas.
A vegetarian entree is offered on a daily basis together with a vegetarian soup. Our entrees and soups are prepared fresh with fresh ingredients.
We have limited the number of sodas in the Cafe and encourage customers to drink pure water or a limited amount of juices.
We work together with the College Health Center with their "Be Well" Tuesdays whereby the Cafe offers free nutritional foods.
The Cafe thinks the key to healthy eating is to take advantage of the variety of choices that are available everyday. Since the Cafe offers a unique menu, it's smart to check the blog to see what's available. Make sure there's a lot of color on your plate and try to choose our great selection fresh-made salads to go or our Fabulous Fall Salad Selections.
If you think we can do better; we're always happy to hear your concerns and suggestions.
Exercise, Eat and Live.
